To understand why we find recovery
so hard sometimes, let’s go back to the beginning:
The word ADDICTION has its roots from Latin.
Addictus meaning devoted and ‘ad Dictum meaning
prison sentence.
So, in effect we have a love-affair which lands
us in jail!
Being devoted to something is a search for that
one elusive human condition: to be happy, fulfilled,
content. Ultimately to find peace within.
How many times have our loved ones accused ‘You
love that more than me’?
How many times have we had to agree?
Being imprisoned by our addiction has one advantage
over jail – We can determine the length of
our sentence. We can end our love-affair. Simple.
Then. Once out on ‘good behaviour’ how
do we learn to love again?
What takes the place of something we loved so completely,
above all else?
How do we replace that constant thought of loss,
with feeling whole?
By finding Peace Within. That’s How! |
